Ingredients

  • Macaroni 150g/5.3 oz.
  • Olive oil 1 tablespoon
  • Brown onion diced (1)
  • Beef mince 500g/1.1 lb.
  • Carrots peeled and diced (2)
  • French onion soup mix 1 sachet, 40g
  • Tomato sauce 60ml/1/4 cup
  • Frozen peas 150g/1 cup
  • Tasty cheese grated (100g/1 cup)

Instructions

  • Set your oven to preheat at 350°F (180°C). Meanwhile, prepare a baking dish by lightly greasing it.
  • Cook the macaroni in boiling water seasoned with salt until it's al dente. Once done, drain it and set it aside.
  • Heat olive oil over medium heat in a large frying pan. Add the diced onion and sauté it for about 4 minutes or until it softens.
  • Now, it's time for the beef mince. Cook it until it's thoroughly browned, making sure to break it apart using a wooden spoon.
  • Mix in the diced carrots and French onion soup mix. Stir well to combine.
  • Pour in 2 cups of water. Bring the mixture to boil, then reduce the heat to let it simmer for about 15 minutes.
  • Finally, mix in the tomato sauce, peas, and the cooked macaroni. Transfer everything into the prepared baking dish.
  • Sprinkle the grated cheese evenly over the top, then bake the dish for 15 minutes. The cheese should turn golden and melt, signalling that your delightful French Onion Savoury Mince is ready to serve!

Notes

You can experiment with other vegetables such as corn or bell peppers. Feel free to substitute beef mince with chicken or turkey mince for a different taste. Also, try different types of cheese for the topping to create a variation of flavours.
