  • 1 bone-in ham 8-10 lb (3.6-4.5 kg)
  • 1 can 20 oz / 567 g pineapple tidbits, undrained
  • 1 1/2 cups 300 g brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon 15 ml Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon 0.6 g ground cloves

Instructions
 

  • Begin by preheating your oven to 325°F (160°C). Choose a suitable baking or roasting pan for the ham.
  • Place the bone-in ham in the pan with the cut side down.
  • Use a sharp knife to score the top of the ham in a criss-cross pattern, making diagonal lines about 1 inch apart and ¼-inch deep.
  • Set the ham aside while you prepare the glaze.
  • In a saucepan over medium-high heat, combine the pineapple tidbits with their juice, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, and ground cloves.
  • Stir the mixture occasionally and bring it to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to a simmer and let it bubble for 10-15 minutes until it thickens.
  • Brush the prepared glaze generously over the ham, making sure to coat both the surface and the spaces between the slices. Reserve about 1/4 of the glaze for later use.
  • Bake the ham in the preheated oven for approximately 90 minutes. Remember to brush the ham with the glaze every 30 minutes to enhance the flavor and caramelization.
  • Once the ham is heated through and the glaze has caramelized beautifully, remove it from the oven.
  • Brush the remaining glaze over the ham for a final flavorful touch.
  • Allow the ham to rest for a few minutes before slicing and serving. The mouthwatering aroma will make it hard to resist!
