Ingredients

  • 900 grams 2 lbs russet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 medium-sized onion peeled, halved, and thinly sliced
  • Salt and pepper to taste go easy on the pepper
  • 4 teaspoons of minced garlic
  • 225 grams 1 cup of grated cheese, divided
  • 160 ml 2/3 cup of sour cream, whipping cream, or milk (I prefer a mix of all three!)
  • 60 ml 1/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan
  • Pam spray

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 190°C (375°F) and spray a 10-inch glass pie dish with Pam.
  • Spread 2 teaspoons of garlic at the bottom of the pie dish.
  • Arrange half of the potatoes over the garlic, followed by half of the onions. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Sprinkle a generous amount of cheese over the onions.
  • Repeat the layering process with the remaining potatoes, onions, and cheese.
  • Cover the pie dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and bake for another 30 minutes, or until the top turns golden brown.
  • Let the pie cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving. Enjoy!
