Ingredients
  

  • 180 g 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 15 g 1 tbsp sugar
  • 15 g 1 tbsp cornmeal
  • 8 g 2 tsp baking powder
  • 5-10 g 1-2 tsp salt, adjust to your preference
  • 180 ml 3/4 cup milk
  • About 375g 2 1/2 cups of chopped onions
  • Oil for frying

Instructions
 

  • Start by combining all the dry ingredients.
  • Stir in the milk until well mixed. The batter will be thick.
  • Add the chopped onions to the batter and mix until evenly distributed.
  • Heat a 1/2 inch of oil in a pan over medium-high heat.
  • Drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil, slightly flattening each dollop. Fry until they're golden brown on both sides and crispy.
  • Remove the fritters and drain them on paper towels to remove excess oil.
  • Serve these delightful Amish Onion Fritters while they're still warm.
