Ingredients
  

  • 5 medium-sized white or Yukon Gold potatoes around 900g or 2 lbs
  • 5 pork chops
  • 1 onion chopped or sliced
  • 240 ml 1 cup of whole milk
  • 720 ml 3 cups of shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 45 g 3 tbsp of unsalted butter
  • Salt and pepper as per your taste
  • Optional: Chives green onions, seasoning salt, and garlic salt for added flavor.

Instructions
 

  • Start by peeling and cutting the potatoes into ¼-inch thick slices and dividing the onion into eighths.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly coat a baking dish with cooking spray.
  • In a large bowl, toss together the sliced potatoes, onions, shredded Cheddar cheese, milk, and optional seasonings until they are thoroughly mixed.
  • Pour the potato mixture into the prepared baking dish. Slice the butter evenly and scatter the slices over the potato mixture.
  • Arrange the pork chops on top of the potato-cheese mix.
  • Bake for about 50-55 minutes at 350°F (175°C), flipping the pork chops halfway to ensure uniform cooking.
  • Make sure the pork chops are no longer pink and the potatoes are tender by testing them with a fork. If required, extend the baking time by another 15 minutes. If the potatoes need more cooking time, but the pork is done, cover the dish with aluminum foil to prevent the pork from drying out.
  • Once cooked, allow the dish to rest for a few minutes before serving.

Notes
