Ingredients
  

  • 3 cups leftover garlic mashed potatoes 680 grams
  • 1 pound lean ground beef 454 grams
  • 1/2 cup white onion finely chopped (55 grams)
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar 25 grams
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup Italian breadcrumbs 100 grams
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 1/2 cups sharp cheddar cheese grated (170 grams)
  • 1/3 cup bacon cooked and crumbled or bacon bits (38 grams)
  • Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper to taste

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 400º F (200º C).
  • In a large bowl, combine the lean ground beef, finely chopped white onion, minced garlic, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, Italian breadcrumbs, and egg. Season the mixture generously with salt and pepper.
  • Transfer the ground beef mixture to an 8-inch square baking dish and press it into an even layer.
  • Spread the leftover garlic mashed potatoes over the ground beef layer, creating a smooth and even top.
  • Sprinkle the grated sharp cheddar cheese on top of the mashed potatoes.
  • Finally, add the cooked and crumbled bacon or bacon bits as the last layer.
  • Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and place it in the preheated oven.
  • Bake the casserole for 30 minutes, then remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Once done, remove the casserole from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
  • Serve the Cheesy Loaded Meatloaf Casserole hot and enjoy the savory and cheesy flavors.

Notes

You can use freshly made mashed potatoes if you don't have leftovers. Simply cook peeled potatoes until tender, mash them with garlic, butter, and milk, and season to taste.
