Ingredients

  • 3 ripe bananas
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  • In a bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until smooth.
  • Add vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, brown sugar, and a pinch of salt. Stir well to combine.
  • Sift in the all-purpose flour and mix until the batter is fully combined.
  • Heat oil in a 10-inch skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Once the oil is hot, drop spoonfuls of the banana fritter batter into the oil.
  • Fry the fritters until one side turns golden and bubbles appear on the top. Then, carefully flip the fritters and cook until the other side is evenly browned.
  • Remove the fritters from the skillet and drain them on paper towels to remove excess oil.
  • Serve the banana fritters warm and enjoy their crispy exterior and tender, flavorful interior.

Notes

For added variety, you can experiment with different toppings such as powdered sugar, cinnamon-sugar dusting, or a drizzle of caramel sauce.
Ensure that the oil is hot enough before frying the fritters to achieve a crispy texture.
These fritters are best enjoyed fresh, but you can store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a day. Reheat them briefly in the oven to restore their crispiness.
