Ingredients

  • 2 small cabbage heads cut into 4 flat discs each
  • 3 tbsp. olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp. salt or to taste
  • 2 tsp. paprika
  • 1 tbsp. garlic powder
  • Pinch of red pepper flakes optional

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Cut the stems off the cabbage heads and halve them. Cut each half into quarters to create four flat discs per cabbage head, each about ¾ to 1 inch thick.
  • Arrange the cabbage  on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, ensuring enough space between them for even cooking.
  • Brush the steaks with olive oil, ensuring they are thoroughly coated. Sprinkle salt, garlic powder, and paprika over the steaks, generously on one side. Flip the steaks and repeat the process, brushing with oil and sprinkling the seasonings. For an added kick, sprinkle a pinch of red pepper flakes on each steak, if desired.
  • Bake the cabbage at 400°F (200°C) for approximately 25 minutes, or until the edges are browned and the center is tender.
  • Serve the cabbage steaks hot and enjoy their delightful flavors and textures.

Notes

Cabbage steaks offer versatility, allowing you to experiment with different seasonings and spices. Squeeze lemon juice over them or sprinkle with parmesan cheese for an extra burst of flavor. These steaks are a low-calorie and nutrient-rich option that pairs well with a variety of main dishes.
