Ingredients

  • 450 grams 1 lb of Flat Iron steak, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 225 grams 1/2 lb of fresh Broccoli, cut into bite-sized florets
  • 60 mL 1/4 cup of Coconut Oil
  • 5 mL 1 tsp of Toasted Sesame Oil
  • 5 mL 1 tsp of Fish Sauce
  • For the Marinade:
  • 60 mL 1/4 cup of Coconut Aminos
  • 5 mL 1 tsp of freshly grated Root ginger
  • 2 cloves of Garlic finely chopped

Instructions

  • Begin by slicing your Flat Iron Steak into ultra-thin strips.
  • Place the sliced steak into a bag with the coconut aminos, fresh ginger, and chopped garlic to marinate. Let it sit for 1 hour in the fridge.
  • Once marinated, drain the beef but keep the marinade for later; it'll be our stir-fry sauce.
  • Briefly blanch the broccoli in boiling water for two minutes, then thoroughly drain.
  • Heat oil in a large wok or cast-iron skillet, then stir-fry the beef until it's nicely browned. Remove the beef and set it aside.
  • Stir-fry the broccoli until it's crisp-tender, around 3 minutes. Add the remaining marinade and cook for an additional two minutes.
  • Add the cooked beef back into the pan, stir in the fish sauce and toasted sesame oil, and serve hot.

Notes

The Flat Iron Steak Stir-Fry with Fresh Broccoli can be served with a side of steamed rice or noodles. Feel free to substitute coconut oil with olive oil, but keep in mind that it may slightly alter the flavor.
