Van der Vaart slams Germany defender Harry Maguire
Rafael van der Vaart, a former midfielder for both the Netherlands and Tottenham Hotspur, seems to dislike Harry Maguire. The captain of Manchester United is doing well at the World Cup, but his detractors aren’t persuaded and won’t give the defender credit for his improved play.
After Germany was eliminated from the World Cup on Thursday night, Rafael van der Vaart cruelly referred to Niklas Sule as the German Harry Maguire.
Hansi Flick’s side did their job by beating Costa Rica, but Japan’s win over Spain proved costly for the four-time World Cup winners.
Speaking to Dutch TV, as quoted by the Daily Star, Van der Vaart said: “Germany has a problem in defense. Sule is not world-class. He is the German Harry Maguire.”

Maguire has not only done admirably at the World Cup, but England has also been strong defensively; it is strange, however, that the United defender has continued to be a laughingstock. Even during this week’s debates in the Ghanaian Parliament, he was brought up.
