Gov Lalong urges Christians to participate in politics
The Christian community in Nigeria has been encouraged by Plateau State Governor Simon Lalong to engage in politics actively and to stop viewing it as a crooked game.
The governor’s representative, Dr. Macham Makut, said in a statement on Saturday that when he received northern Christian leaders in Jos, the governor encouraged the Christian leaders to educate churchgoers and demand improved political representation for the nation.
According to Lalong, everyone with authority granted by God must seek to advance the interests of all Nigerians, especially the Christian community, for the good of all.

The governor stated that as a result, Christians must mobilize their followers to actively participate in politics to not only choose who would lead them but also to have a voice when decisions are being made for the greater good.
He stated that Christians could no longer afford to treat politics as a dirty game, thereby leaving it to some few people, and yet complain of marginalization and poor governance, saying that it is the Church that has the solution to the world since Jesus Christ called them the Salt of the Earth and Light of the World.
Governor Lalong said, “As a governor and Chairman, of the Northern Governors Forum, I have enjoyed tremendous support and collaboration from the Christian leaders within the state and the entire northern region who had to engage me and other leaders over policies and programs of government as well as other national issues, particularly as they affected the Christian community.”
